A children birthday party at Taier Al Monal in Abu Shaghara, Sharjah costs AED 200 for wall decor, AED 150 to AED 300 for the cake depending on group size, and AED 100 for a flower bouquet, plus the buffet. Children are AED 33 on the weekend buffet. On a weekday the buffet is a flat AED 42 for everybody, adult or child.
That flat weekday rate creates something most people planning a kids party get backwards, and it is worth a minute of arithmetic before you pick a date.
The weekend is often cheaper for a children party
The general rule for this restaurant is that weekdays are cheaper: AED 42 a head against AED 65 at the weekend. That rule holds for a party of adults. It stops holding once the room is mostly children, because the weekend has a child rate and the weekday does not.
Take twenty children and five adults. On a weekday the buffet is a flat AED 42 for all twenty-five, which is AED 1,050. On the weekend it is five adults at AED 65 and twenty children at AED 33, which is AED 325 plus AED 660, or AED 985. The weekend comes out AED 65 cheaper for exactly the same party.
The crossover sits at roughly two and a half children per adult. Below that, book the weekday. Above it, the weekend is the better price as well as the easier date for everyone to attend.
The full bill for a children party
Add the celebration package to the food. For twenty guests the cake is AED 200, wall decor is AED 200 and a flower bouquet is AED 100, which is AED 500 before anyone eats.
- Twenty children and five adults on a weekday: AED 1,050 buffet plus AED 500 package, total AED 1,550
- The same party on a weekend: AED 985 buffet plus AED 500 package, total AED 1,485
- Water and soft drinks are included in the buffet price either way
You are not obliged to take the whole package. Wall decor, cake and bouquet are priced separately, so bringing your own cake and skipping the flowers leaves AED 200 of decor on top of the food.
What children actually eat here
The buffet is the full Pakistani spread rather than a separate children menu: biryani, karahi, live tandoor BBQ, and a dessert counter with gulab jamun, kheer and fruit trifle. In practice the dessert counter and the BBQ do most of the work at a children party.
For fussier eaters, the à la carte menu runs alongside the buffet, and the appetizers section starts at AED 10 with fries among the options.
Booking it
Send the date, the number of children and the number of adults, and say whether you want the decor, cake and bouquet. Groups of twenty or more are seated in a reserved family section, with the wall set before your guests arrive. Book earlier than you would for a normal table so the room can be prepared.
