The best family platter deal in Sharjah at Taier Al Monal is the AED 135 tray: mutton afghani pulao, a full chicken karahi, eight pieces of chicken malai boti, four mutton seekh kebabs, four roghni naan, four kheer, raita, salad and tomato salsa, and a 1.5 litre soft drink. It feeds four to five people, which puts it at roughly AED 27 a head.
There is a smaller one at AED 89.99 with chapli kebab, half a chicken karahi, four roghni naan, three kheer, raita and salad and the same 1.5 litre drink. That suits three to four, at about AED 22 to AED 30 each.

Ordering one big platter beats ordering five small ones.
When the buffet is still the better call
A platter gives a fixed set of dishes. The buffet gives the run of the kitchen, from the live tandoor to the dessert counter, and it is unlimited. If your group wants variety more than volume, or if there is a fussy eater in it, the AED 42 weekday buffet earns its extra AED 15 a head.
The rough rule: platters for taking food home or feeding a decided group, buffet for an evening out where nobody agrees on what to eat.
Feeding more than five
Beyond about six people, ordering two platters starts to get awkward and catering becomes the cleaner answer. Catering packages run from AED 45 per person, though outdoor catering carries a minimum order of AED 3,000, so for a small family gathering the platters remain the sensible route.
